From the Start: We are Trial Advocates

Since its inception in the 1980s, our Intellectual Property Group has represented and counseled domestic and international clients from a diverse group of industries on a full spectrum of intellectual property issues.

The Group’s founding lawyers – skilled trial attorneys recognized by their peers as best-in-class – established a team that not only excels in trial advocacy but also has the technical expertise to match. We continue to build on that tradition of excellence by offering comprehensive IP services – including patent litigation, patent prosecution, trademark prosecution, trademark litigation, trade secrets, Hatch-Waxman/Biosimilars, copyright, and IP transactional work – that help clients protect and manage their valuable IP assets.

We Shape Legal Landscapes

Our Intellectual Property team continues to set precedent in all of the leading IP legal trends. We were the first to set precedent in trade secret law for the doctrine of inevitable disclosure.  We were among the first to assist clients in solving the dilemmas arising from Section 101 patentability, including inter partes review, covered business method review, and post-grant review.  We were one of the early adopters of post-America Invents Act procedures as alternatives to patent litigation.

Our extensive experience and intensive knowledge of our clients’ businesses and innovations has enabled us to create policy in various areas of IP law. We are regularly sought out by a wide range of clients that includes Fortune 100 companies, mid-cap companies, universities, professional sports teams, start-up companies, and individual inventors.

At the forefront of the brand vs. generic battles over the past 20 years, our life sciences and pharmaceutical lawyers draw on their considerable market ties and world-class scientific experience to represent and advise well known, international generics clients.

Our team’s trademark attorneys protect and enforce some of the most valuable and recognizable brands in the world. And our patent prosecutors assist and represent marquee international companies before patent offices throughout the world, providing a global and holistic approach to comprehensive patent protection.

We Craft Agile Strategies

We take great care to learn and understand our clients’ businesses and industries, and practice a comprehensive, collaborative approach within our team and with our clients when handling IP matters. We listen, we strategize, we advise, and we implement our strategies without losing sight of our clients’ business objectives. We are adept in envisioning and carrying out creative solutions for our clients in industries ranging from consumer goods, wireless technology and complex pharmaceutical compounds to medical devices, software, and industrial products.

Our Intellectual Property Group’s depth and experience enables us to assist clients with a wide range of international and domestic IP issues, while providing the versatility, velocity and value they desire.
