Katie Marie (K.M.) Zouhary combines her legal education and experience with her theatre background, providing counsel to a range of employment and general litigation clients.

K.M. focuses her practice on employment litigation and pre-litigation counseling. She has represented clients in proceedings in federal and state courts and administrative agencies on matters involving discrimination and harassment claims, whistleblower claims, and claims related to non-compete agreements. In addition, she counsels clients on employment agreements, personnel policies, separation agreements, and performance evaluations.

While concentrating her practice on labor and employment matters, K.M. is also a skilled general commercial litigation adviser.

K.M. enjoys presenting to lawyers and business professionals about how they can use improvisation skills in the dispute resolution context. She has presented with professors and practitioners on this topic. K.M. also uses improvisation techniques to teach law students how to improve their communication skills.

Previous Experience

Before joining Schiff Hardin, K.M. was a Chicago associate in the labor and employment group of an international law firm where, in addition to her client work, she dedicated her efforts to the firm’s Women’s Alliance and Pro Bono Initiative.

K.M.’s wide-ranging career prior to law school included serving as Chief of Staff of the National Endowment for the Arts, working for a Broadway producer, serving entertainment companies as a digital project manager, and working as an analyst for Accenture’s Global Marketing team.

K.M. graduated from Second City’s Conservatory Program and has performed at St. Ann’s Warehouse, Ars Nova, and The People’s Improv Theater.
