Sayward “Woody” Mazur is a construction adviser, litigator, transaction lawyer, arbitrator-mediator and appellate lawyer with more than four decades of experience providing counsel in virtually every aspect of private and public construction law. He has a proven track record of acquiring desirable results for his clients, and is an eminent mediator and arbitrator.
Still youthfully vigorous in his fiftieth year at the bar, Woody’s easygoing demeanor and dry humor may belie his deep commitment to achieving the best outcome for his clients, who greatly appreciate his practicality, knowledge, and wisdom. A client comments, “Working with Woody is like sipping 18-year-old Scotch.”
Woody co-founded New York law firm Mazur Carp & Rubin in 1980 and led the firm’s Construction Law practice. In July 2013, Mazur Carp & Rubin combined with Schiff Hardin.
A Champion of Diversity and Innovation
Along with other Schiff Hardin attorneys, Woody is currently developing a series of training programs for members of the construction industry focusing on compliance with state and federal Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) and Women Business Enterprise (WBE) policy. He notes that Schiff Hardin’s construction law knowhow and reputation, coupled with its long-term, heartfelt commitment to diversity, makes the firm a powerful advocate both for the industry and its clients in these areas.
