Caitlin is an innovative and resourceful problem solver with experience handling environmental law matters across multiple industries, including energy, manufacturing, consumer products, and automotive. She stays on top of evolving regulatory developments and industry trends to proactively support clients and is especially well-versed in complex litigation and regulatory matters involving federal, state, and local environmental rules.

Caitlin integrates her passion for understanding clients’ businesses with prior business communications experience as a polished writer to concisely draft briefs, dispositive pleadings, and memoranda as well as preparing comments for agency rulemakings. She also conducts environmental due diligence to support corporate transactions, and regularly manages discovery and other aspects of trial preparation.

Prior to law school, Caitlin managed communications at a human rights organization in Washington, D.C., and conducted qualitative bioethics research at the University of Chicago.

  • Experience

    • Represents large, out-of-state power generating company in groundwater-related enforcement litigation before the Illinois Pollution Control Board.
    • Counsels industrial supply company on compliance with various laws and regulations governing sale and distribution of industrial products across multiple states.
    • Advises manufacturer of agricultural, horticultural, and turf products on product compliance under FIFRA and related regulations.
    • Represents large commercial and consumer products company in various stages of Superfund site remediation at multiple locations throughout the Midwest.
    • Advises food services company on various regulatory and compliance issues related to the food service industry, including product distribution and storage.
    • Conducted environmental due diligence to assess and minimize environmental risks associated with client’s proposed acquisition of multiple pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities, including overseas locations.
    • Obtained dismissal of federal Clean Water Act citizen suit for power generating company.
    • Drafted administrative comment on behalf of power generating company in complex federal rulemaking involving performance standards for new, modified, and reconstructed stationary electric utility generating units (EGUs).
    • Advised American automaker on all regulatory aspects associated with implementing a new, multi-state mobile fueling program.
