Bickford Honored with 2020 Flex Success Award

News Release |

Schiff Hardin LLP is pleased to announce that Partner Lucy Bickford has been awarded the Diversity & Flexibility Alliance’s 2020 Flex Success® Award, recognizing her achievements and professional success while working reduced hours.

“Far from being a detriment to my career, I view my part-time arrangement as the key to having a sustainable long-term path at Schiff. By continuing to strengthen our firm’s flex policies, we will enhance our inclusive culture and ensure realistic and preferable career paths for a broader group of attorneys,” Lucy said.

The Flex Success® Award recognizes partners at member law firms as well as a clients who have been integral to making workplace flexibility so successful. Lucy was recognized alongside her client, Andrea Coloff, Regional Fiduciary Officer at Bank of America Private Bank.

“Andi helps to support my arrangement by setting reasonable and flexible deadlines, even when the matter is time sensitive,” Lucy said. “Additionally, she is responsive and inclusive in her communications, so our team can rely on her to help us move matters forward efficiently.”

In 2014, Lucy co-founded Schiff’s New Moms Group, a firm-wide network for women with young children returning to work after having a child which advocates on behalf of all attorney parents. In 2017, Lucy was chosen as one of the firm's participants in the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity Pathfinder Program, which trains early-career attorneys in critical career development strategies, including leadership and professional networking.

The Flex Success® Award recognizes partners or shareholders at Alliance member organizations who are successfully working reduced hours schedules, the most stigmatized form of flexible working, as well as a client who has been integral to making workplace flexibility so successful.
