Hickey Profiled on High-Profile Government Investigations

Crain’s Chicago Business

Maggie Hickey, leader of the firm’s White Collar Defense and Government Investigations Practice Group, was featured in a story about her high-profile work involving Chicago Public Schools (CPS), the Illinois House of Representatives, and the Chicago Police Department (CPD), for which she was recently selected as monitor to oversee the department’s compliance with the police reform consent decree.

As monitor of CPD, Maggie will have to navigate the current political climate and competing interests between the police union and civil rights activists. The story quotes former colleagues who say Maggie’s managerial skill, even temper, and law enforcement background equip her to steer CPD through the process.

Maggie served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for over 13 years and eventually became the Illinois Executive Inspector General in 2015, where she led a health care fraud task force that saved the state roughly $450 million.
