Schiff Hardin is pleased to announce that Partner Sarah Fitts has been appointed as a senior vice chair of the International Bar Association’s (IBA) Power Law Committee, a division of the Energy, Environment, Natural Resources and Infrastructure Law Section (SEERIL). As part of this elevated committee leadership role, Sarah will contribute to facilitating energy law dialogue and collaboration during this time of dramatic technological change and new opportunities and appetite for cross-border investments in power and power-related infrastructure.
Sarah has served as an officer on the IBA Power Law Committee since 2015, and has actively engaged in planning Power Law Committee panels for prior annual and section meetings. She presented at recent meetings in Sydney and Lisbon, covering climate change, energy challenges facing smart cities, and the power generation shift from large utilities to consumers and newcomers in the power sector. Sarah has also held leadership positions with the New York City and American Bar Associations and is an active member of the Women’s Infrastructure Network’s New York Steering Committee and Regional Plan Association Board of Directors.
The Power Law Committee’s mission is to provide a forum where energy lawyers with different legal backgrounds from around the world can interact and learn from one another. The International Bar Association is the foremost organization for international legal practitioners, bar associations, and law societies with membership comprising more than 80,000 individual international attorneys and 190 bar associations and law societies from more than 170 countries.
