Schiff Hardin is pleased to announce that David Pi is the 2019 recipient of the Maurice Weigle Exceptional Young Lawyer Award by the Chicago Bar Foundation, recognizing his initiative, exceptional contributions to the profession, and pro bono service.
David is an active supporter for the ideals of diversity and inclusion in the legal profession. During his first six years of practice, David has dedicated nearly 3,000 hours to pro bono clients, including representing asylum seekers with the National Immigrant Justice Center, which selected him as a 2018 Rising Stars Award recipient. He has also represented clients seeking redress for violations of their constitutional rights and collaborated on cases through the American Civil Liberties Union and Chicago Volunteer Legal Services.
Within the firm, David serves as a mentor for junior associates, offering practical and strategic advice on pro bono and other matters, as well as on professional development.
The Maurice Weigle Exceptional Young Lawyer Award is bestowed annually to a member of The Chicago Bar Association who is aged 36 years or younger in acknowledgement of their contributions to furthering the ideals of the legal profession, to making the organized bar an effective force for improving the legal profession, and for their demonstrated commitment to pro bono and community service.
