In the American Lawyer “Inside Track” newsletter’s Question of the Week feature, Lauren Novak and Christina Jacobson identified four employment law issues for in-house counsel to think about in 2018, including: sexual harassment policies, laws preventing employers from inquiring about applicant salary history, new laws regarding paid sick and family leave, and potential accommodations for users of medical marijuana. They also noted that many of these issues vary based on local city ordinances or state laws.
“Employers that expect to hire in multiple states may want to consider adopting a uniform policy that applies to all employees, regardless of location, to eliminate opportunities for improper inquiries.”
