Schiff Hardin ranked #1 among large law firms in Chicago and #20 nationally for associate satisfaction in the 2017 Midlevel Associate Satisfaction survey by The American Lawyer.
Associates in their third, fourth, and fifth years from the top 200 U.S. law firms were asked to rate their firms for satisfaction on a scale of one to five, with five being “very satisfied.” Schiff scored 4.644 in Chicago and 4.392 nationally, beating both the regional and national averages. The firm ranked particularly high in the following categories: exposure to major cases, exposure to high level/challenging work, and attitude toward pro bono. Schiff also scored a “5” in Chicago for partner-associate relations.
“These strong results confirm that our midlevel associates are enjoying and thriving in the important work that we do for our clients,” said Marci Eisenstein, Schiff Hardin’s managing partner. “Our associates are critical members of our teams, and we continually strive to create opportunities for them to develop in each stage of their careers.”
Conducted annually, the survey measures associate satisfaction in areas including interesting work, training and guidance, relations between associates and partners, benefits and compensation, how management communicates firm strategies and partnership changes, pro bono work, billable hours, and the likelihood of being at the firm in two years.
The 2017 survey results were based on responses from 5,346 associates and 102 firms. The survey is anonymous and confidential.
