Schiff Hardin Named a “Best Law Firm for Women” for Six Years in a Row

News Release |

For the sixth consecutive year, Schiff Hardin has been recognized as one of the “Best Law Firms for Women” by Working Mother magazine for putting best practices into action to retain and promote women lawyers. The firm was specifically recognized for its high percentage of female partners and women in management and leadership roles, as well as workplace flexibility.

A few of the firm’s successful diversity initiatives include:

  • Diversity Committee: This team of 17 lawyers, led by Real Estate Group Chair Christine McGuiness and Intellectual Property Group Leader Sailesh Patel, collaborate to implement strategy, policy, and programing that enhance and sustain the firm’s commitment to diversity and inclusion.
  • New Moms Group: Launched in 2014, this support network helps assimilate new moms with the firm’s parental leave, alternative work arrangements, and backup childcare benefits, in addition to offering an open forum for parents to share ideas and tips.
  • Inclusion Networks: The firm’s inclusion networks aim to connect attorneys across offices and practices, and are focused on women, minorities, LGBT lawyers, veterans and attorneys with disabilities.

This annual list recognizes 50 U.S. law firms for their policies in the advancement of women and for the implementation of work-life balance initiatives. Firms are selected based on workforce profile, flexibility, and the development and retention of women.
