Poised for Leadership: Women's Leadership Training Seminar in San Francisco

On May 24, 2010, a high-energy group of 35 professional women came together to network, learn strategies to advance their careers, and support each other to take action in a leadership training seminar sponsored by Schiff Hardin LLP and Women's Leadership Coaching, Inc.

More than thirty early-career to mid-level women from the health care, technology, marketing, insurance, and beverage industries, as well as Schiff Hardin attorneys Daska Babcock, Roberta Dempster, and Nicole Magaline, participated in "Poised for Leadership," a full-day, interactive workshop presented by Jo Miller, CEO of Women's Leadership Coaching, Inc. (www.womensleadershipcoaching.com).

The seminar delivered. Schiff Hardin partner Jean Bertrand provided welcoming remarks highlighting her observations of women's leadership in the field of law and her own experiences with professional leadership. Jo Miller then presented a targeted and practical approach to setting professional goals and overcoming common impediments to achieving them, interweaving small-group practice sessions and lessons from the latest social science research into the seminar.

Miller praised the first Women's Leadership Coaching seminar to be co-sponsored by Schiff Hardin LLP. "Our hosts at Schiff Hardin made us very welcome, providing breakfast, lunch and gift bags, and transforming their library with its stunning views of the San Francisco Bay into what could possibly be the best conference venue in the City." The seminar feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with more than 80 percent of the participants rating the program "very good" or "excellent."
