Ronald Wilder, one of Schiff Hardin's most respected partners and attorneys, passed away on December 19 at the age of 70 after a long and valiant fight with cancer. He was a long time resident of Glencoe, Illinois.

Ronald S. Safer, Schiff Hardin's Managing Partner expressed the law firm's sadness on Mr. Wilder's passing, "For those who knew him, you understand the weight of the loss felt by all of us and the firm as an institution.  For those who did not, Ron was a partner with the firm since 1979.  He was a loving and caring father and husband.  He was a loyal friend and partner.  He was a fierce and effective advocate for our clients.  He was a generous teacher and mentor to many young lawyers."

During his career at Schiff Hardin, Mr. Wilder concentrated his practice in the representation of management in labor and discrimination law matters with particular emphasis on the defense of management as to litigation before various administrative agencies, arbitration tribunals and courts. Mr. Wilder also was active in teaching the law. He was an adjunct professor at Chicago-Kent College of Law from 1969 to 1971 and from 1979 to 1980, teaching courses in labor law and employee discrimination law. He was honored with a Glenkirk Foundation Volunteer Service Award and was distinguished as a "Leading Lawyer — Employment Law: Management; Labor Law: Management, Illinois," by the Illinois Leading Lawyers Network.
