"The award is well-deserved," says Mark C. Friedlander, co-leader of Schiff Hardin's Construction Group. "Paul Lurie is widely acknowledged to be the 'dean of construction law' in the Chicago area and single-handedly set up and runs the Mediate and Arbitrate Listserv which most lawyers agree is a very useful resource for cutting edge issues involving alternative dispute resolution."
Kenneth M. Roberts, Executive Committee Member and also a co-leader of Schiff Hardin's Construction Group adds, "Paul has been a true pioneer in the field of ADR for the past 40 years. In the past decade, he has become the beacon of light on the intellectual study of ADR cases and decisions and the importance of these decisions to those of us who practice in the ADR field. His honesty, intellectual firepower, and commitment to the ADR field are traits that inspire all who practice in this field. Paul is a great partner, mentor and friend. I can think of no one more deserving of this award."
Mr. Lurie, a long time member of AAA's National Construction Disputes Resolution Committee, received an outpouring of praise from his peers for his significant work in the arbitration field. "No one has done more for the education of lawyers in ADR than Paul," says Joseph F. Canterbury Jr., Director of the Dallas based law firm, Canterbury, Elder, Gooch, Surratt, Shaprio & Stein.
"Paul's knowledge and experience have provided each one of us with an ADR education we could not get anywhere," states Geoffrey T. Keating of McManus, Schor, Asmar & Darden LLP in Washington D.C. Carl A. Calvert of the New Mexico based Calvert Menicucci P.C. also added to the choir of praise, "After serving with Paul as the chair of a panel, I benefited greatly from all the information he provided. There is no one better for this award."
