Schiff Hardin LLP's Mark C. Friedlander Chairs Society of Illinois Construction Attorneys 2016 Olympic Games Task Force

Mark C. Friedlander, co-leader of Schiff Hardin's Construction Group, has been appointed by the Steering Committee of the Society of Illinois Construction Attorneys to chair that organization's 2016 Olympics Task Force. The Task Force has twin goals to: (1) help Chicago secure the 2016 Olympic Games; and (2) organize and persuade the Chicagoland construction community to agree to contractual procedures which will guarantee that all Olympic projects are finished properly and on time.

This Task Force recently met with the official Chicago Olympic Bid Committee (called "Chicago 2016"), who enthusiastically accepted this support and started to set up a timetable for the Task Force to accomplish its goals. The International Olympic Committee will select the winning city in October 2009, and Chicago's submission is due in February. The Task Force is in the process of preparing a proclamation that hopefully will be signed by most of the architects and contractors in the Chicagoland area. It will be used in the February Bid Submittal to show Chicago's commitment to the Games and its ability to stage them.

Mr. Friedlander also is the immediate past-President of the Society of Illinois Construction Attorneys.
