Schiff Hardin LLP Welcomes Valarie Hays as an Associate in the Litigation Group of the Chicago Office

Valarie Hays has joined Schiff Hardin LLP as an associate in the Litigation Group from the United States Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Illinois where she was an Assistant United States Attorney. 

Ms. Hays concentrates her practice in white collar crime and corporate compliance, as well as general litigation and labor and employment matters. She has litigated cases involving securities fraud, gender discrimination, asbestos exposure, shareholder disputes, and price discrimination.

As an Assistant United States Attorney, Ms. Hays prosecuted crimes involving fraud, public corruption, illegal guns and narcotics, and other violations. She participated in 14 federal jury trials (first-chairing eight), and received the Department of Justice Special Achievement Award in 2002, 2003, 2006 and 2007, as well as a Department of Justice award related to a particular narcotics investigation in 2007.

Ms. Hays is also an adjunct lecturer on communication and trial advocacy at Northwestern University.

She is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (B.A., 1997) and Harvard Law School (J.D., 2000).
