Schiff Hardin LLP's New York Office to Host Social Media Breakfast Seminar

Schiff Hardin LLP's David Jacoby and Judith S. Roth, both members of the firm's Intellectual Property group, will host a breakfast seminar about the legal risks of social media on Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2010.

The seminar, titled "Getting Online But Staying Out of Court: Marketing and Social Media," will provide an introduction to the legal risks in using social media as well as steps that can be taken to minimize those risks. Mr. Jacoby and Ms. Roth will cover what social media is and how it works, areas of the law that are affected, examples of mistakes others have made, steps to protect your business and possible future developments.

The seminar will be from 8:30-10 a.m. at Schiff Hardin's New York office and includes breakfast. Registration is available until Friday, Sept. 17, 2010, at http://www.schiffhardin.com/events/ny_social_media/register.asp.

About David Jacoby
David Jacoby has tried or argued a variety of cases in state and federal courts and in arbitral tribunals, as well as counseling clients. The topics have included jurisdiction over on-line activity, privacy, defamation, intellectual property, CDA Section 230 immunity, open source software and trade secrets. He has written on intellectual property protection in both virtual media and in social media and rights of publicity, among other topics. He is an adjunct professor at Fordham Law School and former Senior Vice Chair of the International Bar Association Litigation Committee.
