Karen V. Newbury has joined Schiff Hardin LLP as Counsel in the Restructuring, Bankruptcy and Creditors' Rights practice group. She most recently served as general counsel of a Chicago start-up company.

Karen V. Newbury concentrates her practice on bankruptcy law and has extensive experience counseling clients on bankruptcy planning on both creditor and debtor sides, UCC issues, FERC and ICC issues, indefeasible rights of use, recovery of stolen funds and prevention of further thefts, breach of government contracts, partnership disputes and sales of business entities.
She has managed a variety of cases in both commercial and bankruptcy litigation, including bankruptcy adversary complaints of all types, mediations and arbitrations.
Ms. Newbury has also managed internal investigations for private and government-funded clients.
She is a graduate of The John Marshall Law School (J.D., cum laude, 1996), Northwestern University (M.A., Theatre, 1992) and Occidental College (B.A., with honors, 1987).
