Schiff Hardin LLP Ranked By Equality Illinois As A Leading Law Firm For LGBT Workplace Equality

August 4, 2011

Schiff Hardin LLP has been ranked by Equality Illinois as a leading law firm in the state for its achievements in lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) workplace equality. The ranking is based on results from Equality Illinois’ 2011 annual Law Firm Survey that gathers information about firms’ personnel policies, domestic partnership benefits, diversity training, and engagement with the LGBT community, among other factors.

“We are gratified to be recognized by Equality Illinois. There is a long history of inclusiveness at Schiff Hardin,” said Clay Tillack, chair of Schiff Hardin’s LGBT Diversity Subcommittee. “We are proud to have been among the first major law firms to provide health care benefits to same-sex partners of our attorneys and staff, and our pro bono work on behalf of LGBT individuals during the course of the past three decades is in the highest traditions of the firm.”

Schiff Hardin was recognized for its accomplishments on July 28 during the Lawyers for Diversity barbeque, hosted by the Lesbian and Gay Bar Association of Chicago.

Additionally, for 2011, Schiff Hardin received a 100% score on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s 2011 Corporate Equality Index, based on LGBT workplace policies and benefits.
