Darren VanPuymbrouck, a partner at Schiff Hardin, will moderate a session at the American Bar Association Section of Litigation’s Corporate Counsel CLE Seminar on Saturday, February 18 at the Park Hyatt Aviara Resort (7100 Aviara Resort Drive, Carlsbad, California). An overview of Mr. VanPuymbrouck’s session, “State Attorneys General Investigations, Task Forces, and Litigation: What a General Counsel Needs to Know,” is as follows:
State attorneys general have never been more active conducting investigations and prosecuting claims in an array of fields, including banking, lending, finance, the environment, healthcare, and consumer fraud. They form task forces and work with each other across state lines and even hire private lawyers to investigate and prosecute claims on their behalf. This panel, which will include current and former state attorneys general, will provide an insider’s primer for how to respond to investigations or claims by state attorneys general against your client.
