Schiff Hardin has for many decades been well known for its involvement and pro bono work with the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) communities. Organizations such as the AIDS Legal Council of Chicago, Hearts Foundation, and Howard Brown Health Center Legal Services Center have recognized our attorneys and our firm for exemplary achievements. In 2011, Schiff Hardin LLP was ranked by Equality Illinois as a leading law firm in the state for its achievements in lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) workplace equality. In 2011 and 2012, the Human Rights Campaign Foundation's Corporate Equality Index gave Schiff Hardin a perfect score and highest ranking.
The chair of our firm's LGBT Diversity Subcommittee, Clay A. Tillack, was appointed by the American Bar Association's Forum on Franchising to serve as its liaison to the ABA's Commission on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity. We also have been active in cases with the Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund.
