At Schiff Hardin, we believe that people are most effective when their work and personal lives are in harmony. Our work is demanding, and sometimes intense. But at Schiff Hardin, we also want work to be a source of enjoyment and personal satisfaction so that our people attain their personal and professional goals. We put that ideal into practice with benefits and policies like the following:
Generous benefits, including medical, dental, retirement plans, 401K, short- and long-term disability, parental leave (maternity, paternity and adoption leave), and vacation/sick time. We also offer health care benefits to same-sex domestic partners.
Flexible hours, including reduced-hour, flex-time, and telecommuting arrangements for attorneys. Women and men, and associates and partners take advantage of this benefit.
Women's Networking Group (WNG) — Established in 1998, women attorneys at Schiff Hardin plan and host events that provide mutual support and personal and professional growth. Through the WNG, women attorneys meet and share ideas and benefit from mentoring and networking activities.
The Parenting Group at Schiff Hardin includes not only parents but also grandparents, aunts, uncles and prospective parents. The Group invites parenting experts, doctors, financial planners, social workers and others to speak on parenting topics and hosts forums for members to share resources, such as babysitter and day care facility referrals. The Group also sponsors family social events for Schiff Hardin lawyers and clients. These activities allow members to discuss parenting-related issues and build a community of attorneys who can rely on each other for support.
Wellness Program — All employees are encouraged to participate in annual on-site health screenings for the early detection of many health issues. The firm also provides AED/CPR training, free on-site flu shots and mammograms, and reimbursement for smoking cessation and weight management.
Employee Assistance Program — Schiff Hardin provides free assistance to employees and their dependents who suffer from depression, marital or family difficulties, addictions, stress, and legal or financial problems.
Community Involvement — Schiff Hardin has a proud tradition of representing clients on a pro bono basis, and we also encourage and support participation in civic, charitable and professional organization activities at all levels of the firm. Many of our most important community ventures were initiated by our attorneys and staff and those ventures have our unwavering support.
Back-Up Dependent Care Program provides attorneys and staff with a safety net for those days when regular dependent (child and adult) care arrangements fall through. Attorneys and staff can use the program during center/school closings for holidays and breaks, regular caregivers’ sick or vacation days, recovery from an illness or surgery, or the transition to child/adult care arrangements.
