Bob Mullen has a commercial litigation practice, handling financial, real estate, construction and international disputes. He has tried jury and bench trials to verdict, conducted binding and non-binding arbitrations, handled appeals to state and federal appellate courts, and frequently represents clients in mediation.
Experience
- Won a $16 million summary judgment for the federal bank of Mexico against a California seafood importer (Banco de Mexico v. Orient Fisheries, 680 F.Supp.2d 1132 (C.D. Cal. 2010))
- Defended a Japanese broadband infrastructure company in a suit for stock ownership rights in acquired companies
- Represents the receiver of a large failed bank in mortgage fraud litigation nationwide
- Defended a residential home developer in a suit challenging an energy efficiency program
- Won summary judgment for a manufacturer of commercial waterproofing products in a suit alleging water intrusion into deep underground structure (Barseghian v. Tremco, 2010 WL 1510031 (Cal.App. 2 Dist., 2010))
- Defended a title insurance company against claims by bankruptcy trustee that it participated in a property-flipping scheme that defrauded loan purchasers of $20 million
- Won several subprime deceptive lending cases for residential lender
- Prosecuted fraud action against title insurer and escrow company on behalf of a residential lender, winning in the California Supreme Court (Alliance v. Rothwell, 10 Cal.4th 1226 (1995))
- Defended a power utility against claims that it breached power purchase contracts and conspired with California's Independent System Operator during California's energy crisis
- Won dismissal of a British jeweler in a suit alleging fraud and breach of contract in the sale of rare gems (S.H. Silver v. David Morris Int’l, 2008 WL 4058364 (N.D. Cal. August. 28, 2008))

Pro Bono Activities
Mr. Mullen was the 1992 recipient of the State Bar of California's Wiley M. Manual Award for pro bono legal service for his work on a race discrimination case. He also was named Outstanding Volunteer in Public Service by the Bar Association of San Francisco. Mr. Mullen works with the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights of the San Francisco Bay Area.
