Walter C. Greenough concentrates his practice in product liability defense and civil litigation. He represents manufacturers in product liability cases throughout the country who prefer to take their cases to trial if they cannot be settled for amounts less than the cost of defense. He has extensive experience in general commercial litigation, particularly in cases involving breach of contract and interference with business relationships.
He has represented brokers and clearing firms in litigation, arbitration and disciplinary proceedings before:
- Federal and state courts
- Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)
- Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC)
- National Association of Securities Dealers, Inc. (NASD)
- National Futures Association (NFA)
- All major exchanges
He has advised acquiring and target companies in tender offers and proxy fights, and represented companies and/or their directors in suits alleging violations of federal securities laws and breach of directors' fiduciary duties.
Experience
Products Liability
Mr. Greenough has won ten straight verdicts of "no liability" in personal injury jury cases in Florida, Iowa, New Jersey, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia, Washington and Wisconsin, where the aggregate claimed damages exceeded $150 million.
Securities Litigation
Mr. Greenough was lead counsel in a 100-day arbitration hearing before the NFA, believed to be the longest ever.
