Valerie L. Green

Associate

Valerie L. Green concentrates her practice in natural gas, electric and related energy matters. Ms. Green has represented clients in tariff-related matters and other proceedings before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. She also has pre-trial litigation and trial experience in other contexts, and has represented both defendants and plaintiffs in construction, employment, insurance, mortgage lending and products liability cases.

Experience

Ms. Green’s work for clients in the energy industry includes:

  • Representing an LDC in FERC’s recent Section 5 complaint against Kinder Morgan Interstate Gas Transmission LLC and representing a group of local distribution companies in FERC’s Section 5 complaint against Natural Gas Pipeline Company of America;
  • Representing a gas pipeline company in various tariff-related matters, including settlement of its Section 4 rate proceeding;
  • Assisting a Midwest utility in a complaint case involving complicated pricing aspects of a Joint Operating Agreement between two Regional Transmission Operators;
  • Assisting an investor-owned utility with an internal investigation culminating in a self-report regarding potential violations of FERC’s natural gas transportation rules;
  • Assisting an independent transmission system operator in a number of proceedings concerning the development of market rules for New England’s wholesale electricity markets and in implementing a Forward Capacity Market;
  • Advising and assisting a gas pipeline company and an electric utility with compliance with FERC Order No. 714 (electronic baseline tariff filings and subsequent compliance filings); and
  • Creating compliance training presentations covering various aspects of FERC’s regulatory scheme.

Prior to law school, Ms. Green worked as a graphic designer for nine years, specializing in branding and design strategies for technology and finance companies.
