Lisa A. Brown is Schiff Hardin's Professional Development Partner. In this role, she works closely with firm and practice group management to shape and coordinate the firm’s approach to all matters relating to associate life at the firm, including recruiting, training, mentoring, professional development, evaluations and compensation, promotions, and other related matters. Ms. Brown is integrally involved in designing and implementing the firm's strategic initiatives concerning entry-level and lateral attorney recruitment, retention, and promotion. She chairs Schiff Hardin's Law Student Recruitment Committee, and is a member of the firm's Diversity and Professional Personnel Committees. In addition, Ms. Brown spends a significant amount of her time talking to associates across the firm on myriad professional development related issues, including choosing a practice area, integrating into the firm, juggling a hectic workload, managing pro bono commitments, taking leaves of absence, and working flex-time or reduced-hours commitments.
In addition to serving as Schiff Hardin's Professional Development Partner, Ms. Brown continues to practice as a partner in the General Litigation Group. She concentrates her practice in commercial litigation and class action defense, including professional liability and insurance matters. She was a member of the trial team that twice successfully defended a major telecommunications company from claims of alleged trade secret misappropriate and business torts. Both were multi-week trials involving more than $1 billion in claimed damages. In addition, she has successfully defended multi-party coverage and extra-contractual liability actions and business and consumer class actions.
