Kimberly R. Bourroughs has a range of experience handling matters in both state and federal courts. Her litigation experience is broad, and has involved a variety of matters in civil and criminal law.
Her extensive experience in criminal prosecution and at the Georgia Supreme Court also allows her to bring a unique perspective in matters at the appellate level.
Previous Experience
Prior to joining Schiff Hardin, Ms. Bourroughs was Chief of Staff and policy research assistant for Retired Georgia Supreme Court Chief Justice Leah Ward Sears, and she continues to work in that capacity at the firm. Before her position as Chief of Staff, Ms. Bourroughs was a prosecutor, serving as a Senior Assistant District Attorney for Clayton County, Georgia. She also held positions with DeKalb County, Georgia, first as an intern in the District Attorney's office and then as an Assistant Solicitor General. Ms. Bourroughs has handled, as first chair, major felony cases, including capital crimes and violent crimes against women and children.
Before beginning her legal career, Ms. Bourroughs worked on Capitol Hill and for two years at the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington D.C.
