Matt Galo concentrates his practice on transactions, corporate governance matters and business counseling. As co-leader of our firm's Private Companies client service group, a significant portion of his work focuses on privately held companies throughout all segments of the "middle market" as well as start-up and emerging businesses. He also represents private equity investors and their portfolio companies in their acquisition, divestiture and general operating activities.
In addition, Mr. Galo represents public and privately held financial institutions in their mergers and acquisitions as well as corporate and regulatory matters. He works with clients from a variety of industries, including:
Mr. Galo has experience in business combinations involving mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures (particularly through limited liability companies), private offerings and other transactions. In addition, he works with foreign investors in structuring and negotiating their U.S. private equity investment activities.
Mr. Galo has given presentations to clients' in-house legal and corporate development teams, investment banking groups and family-owned business organizations on a variety of topics, including negotiating mergers and acquisitions and private company ownership transition.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Galo was a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy (1989-1993), where he served as damage control officer on the destroyer USS Stump (DD-978) and division officer aboard the battleship USS Iowa (BB-61).
