Laurie K. Anger

Laurie K. Anger concentrates her practice in toxic tort trial work, an area in which she has tried numerous jury cases and handled many appeals.

Ms. Anger is known for her successful settlement and alternative dispute resolution (ADR) strategies. She has extensive experience supervising personnel in the administration of thousands of mass tort lawsuits throughout the western United States.

Ms. Anger has management responsibilities for thousands of asbestos cases pending in California, Alaska, Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, Wyoming, Nevada, Montana, Idaho, Utah, Oregon, Hawaii and Guam.

Experience

  • Trial and pre-trial responsibility in asbestos cases over a period of 20-plus years for a variety of companies 
  • Successfully defending a former asbestos manufacturer in mass maritime filings by plaintiffs in Alaska, resulting in complete dismissals, affirmed on appeal by the Alaska Supreme Court
  • Negotiating final settlements of numerous "inventory deals" with various plaintiffs' attorneys resolving thousands of asbestos cases in multiple jurisdictions
  • Cost/benefit litigation management with regional responsibility for strategic decisions regarding discovery and pre-trial activities in ongoing asbestos litigation
  • Creating long-lasting administrative claims handling agreements with plaintiffs' attorneys throughout the West, resolving thousands of future asbestos claims without litigation
  • Participating in various committees with judiciary, plaintiffs' counsel, and defense counsel in formulating General Orders to govern asbestos litigation court procedure in multiple jurisdictions

Pro Bono Activities

In pro bono matters, Ms. Anger has advocated the rights of children in legal dependency proceedings.
