John E. Rosenthal focuses on product liability and commercial litigation. He has experience litigating in both state and federal courts.
His practice spans all aspects of civil litigation, including:
- Written discovery
- Depositions
- Dispositive motions
- Mediation
- Trial preparation
- Direct and cross-examination at trial
Among his experiences:
- Serving as second chair counsel at a bench trial concerning a contract dispute, and two jury trials involving professional malpractice defense
- Representing product manufacturers in complex toxic tort and construction defect litigation
- Earning multiple dismissals for Fortune 500 product manufacturer at pleading stage of litigation
- Insurance litigation including malpractice and subrogation actions arising under commercial general liability policies
- Successful briefing in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit
Pro Bono Activities
Mr. Rosenthal's pro bono work with the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights of the San Francisco Bay Area has given him valuable experience in debt collection defense and Chapter 7 bankruptcy law.
Previous Experience
Before joining the firm in 2006, Mr. Rosenthal gained litigation and trial experience defending hospitals and physicians in multi-million dollar medical malpractice cases involving wrongful death and catastrophic personal injury.
