Sweeping Financial Reform Legislation Enacted
Introduction
On July 21, 2010, President Obama signed into law the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act. Schiff Hardin's Securities and Futures Regulation Group prepared a Legislative Update that discusses three major portions of the Dodd-Frank Act that are of particular interest to participants in the securities and futures markets: (1) regulation of over-the-counter derivatives; (2) separation of banking and securities trading activities; and (3) regulation of unregistered investment funds, including hedge funds, and the managers of such funds.
