Don M. Tellock

Don M. Tellock represents corporations and individuals in complex federal and state court litigation, as well as government and internal investigations, administrative proceedings and arbitrations. He focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation and corporate compliance, and counsels clients on privacy, consumer class action litigation, data protection/information security and advertising issues.

Mr. Tellock's practice is national in scope. He has appeared in state and federal courts throughout the country, including New York, California, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and Arkansas.

Mr. Tellock is a member of the firm's Diversity Committee.

Experience

  • Defense of a direct marketing advertiser in a twelve-state investigation by various state attorneys general regarding the company's advertising, marketing and privacy practices
  • Defense of a client in an administrative proceeding brought by a federal government agency seeking a multi-million dollar penalty
  • Defense of a national retailer in a class action alleging violation of a California consumer protection/privacy statute regarding the collection of personal data from consumers
  • Prosecution of a major online bookseller to correct an Internet security vulnerability that exposed the personal information of the company's customers
  • Prosecution of a well-known women's intimate apparel company to correct an Internet security vulnerability that exposed consumers' personal information
  • Prosecution of a major Internet portal company to protect consumers from unwanted email and telemarketing campaigns

Previously, Mr. Tellock served as an Assistant Attorney General in the Office of the New York State Attorney General (2001-2004). There, Mr. Tellock's responsibilities included policy-making, management and enforcement of a range of state and federal laws.
