Barry S. Alberts, a partner in Schiff Hardin's Litigation Group, will speak at The 2nd Annual National Institute on E-Discovery: Practical Solutions for Dealing with Electronically Stored Information (ESI) presented by the American Bar Association Section of Litigation and the Center for Continuing Legal Education. Mr. Alberts' session is "Ethics of E-Discovery." The institute will be held at the W Chicago City Center in Chicago.

Mr. Alberts' session will focus on issues relating to safeguarding client property; properly supervising vendors, associates, and paralegals; responding to inadvertent disclosures; and much more.

The institute seeks to educate on topics, including developing case law under the new federal rules governing e-discovery; best practices, lessons learned, and traps for the unwary in e-discovery; assertion and protection of privileges; handling and storing of ESI; cost-effective methods for gathering and reviewing ESI, including cutting-edge concept search methods; the availability and implications of discovery on e-discovery; ethics in the e-discovery world; maximizing outcome and minimizing risk through IT personnel and outside vendors; the tensions between business-driven document destruction practices and litigation hold obligations; and practical and ethical issues in dealing with vendors.
